Indicators: Sustainability Indicators in Communal Wetlands and their Catchments
Against the background of an integrated approach to wetland rehabilitation and wise use, a number of questions arose regarding monitoring and evaluation – both for the project team and for the natural resources users and managers. These were:
- What indicators can be used to assess the situation, to track change and to evaluate impacts?
- How can these be developed in a way that is meaningful both for managers but also for the users themselves?
This proposal, which seeks to address the issue of indicators, will build on the wealth of experience of the afore-mentioned initiatives in an integrated fashion. This project stared in October 2008 and is being funded through the Water Research Commission.
